Interjection (विस्मयादिबोधक अव्यय)
Interjection वह शब्द या छोटा expression है, जो अचानक उत्पन्न होने वाली भावना, प्रतिक्रिया, अभिवादन, दर्द, आश्चर्य या ध्यान आकर्षित करने का भाव व्यक्त करता है।
An interjection is a word or short expression used to show a sudden feeling or reaction.
- Hurrah! We won the match.
- Alas! He is dead.
- Wow! What a beautiful painting!
- Oh, I forgot my bag.
Interjections सामान्यतः sentence structure से syntactically independent होते हैं। उनके बाद केवल exclamation mark ही आवश्यक नहीं है; emotion की strength और context के अनुसार comma, full stop या question mark भी आ सकता है।

Look! और Listen! ध्यान आकर्षित कर सकते हैं, लेकिन व्याकरणिक रूप से ये imperative verbs भी हो सकते हैं। इसलिए हर attention word को शुद्ध interjection मानना आवश्यक नहीं है।
Important Rules
- Strong emotion के बाद सामान्यतः exclamation mark लगाया जाता है।
- Mild reaction में comma भी आ सकता है: Well, let us begin.
- Interjection sentence की शुरुआत, बीच या अंत में आ सकता है।
- एक ही interjection अलग context में अलग भावना व्यक्त कर सकता है, जैसे Oh!
- Formal writing में interjections कम और informal speech/writing में अधिक प्रयोग होते हैं।

Hurrah = खुशी
Alas = दुःख
Bravo = प्रशंसा
Wow = आश्चर्य
Oh = surprise, realization, pain या disappointment—context के अनुसार
Oops = छोटी गलती का एहसास
Ouch = दर्द
Hello / Hi = अभिवादन
Hush / Shh = चुप रहने का संकेत
Well = hesitation, transition या reaction
Common Errors
- Punctuation depends on tone: Oh! That hurts. / Oh, I see.
- Emotion और word का मेल सही होना चाहिए: जीत पर Hurrah!, दुःख पर Alas!.
- हर sentence-opening word interjection नहीं होता; कुछ words imperative verb या discourse marker भी हो सकते हैं।
